1. Enjoy your latest Newsletter! Mark the activities that you would choose for your family and then share the newsletter with your children. After you’ve prayed and made your final choices: (1) mark your calendar and (2) make sure to RSVP by the deadline.

2. Pray about joining a
club or on-going activity, such as Friday's Educational Co-op & Workshops, Keepers Club (a Christian girls’ club), Contender’s Club (a Christian boys’ club), Teen Scene, Yearbook Club, etc. Clubs and activities change from year to year in accordance with need or interest. Enjoy fun and educational activities and field trips. Here locally and outside the desert.

3. Read your
DCHEA E-mail Alerts. Rhesa sends these out in a timely manner so you have up-to-date educational, legal, and activity information between Newsletters.

4. Take a look at the
DCHEA Website. DCHEA children can share their writing, art and other projects! Buy/Sell at the Swap Board – curriculum and other items. The Newsletter is also archived on the site.

5. Pop into the
DCHEA Blog. Ask Questions and receive Answers. See what other families are doing. DCHEA children can share their writing, art and other projects! Check out the links to favorite Curriculum Vendors, view Book Lists, Member Blogs/Websites, and answer the latest Survey or take a Poll.

6. Attend a monthly
Moms’ Night Out (MNO) – Connect with your sisters. Make new friendships – meet sisters-in-the-Lord who have been called just as you have, to educate their children at home. Be blessed and encouraged! Watch for place/date/time in the DCHEA Newsletter.

7. Visit the
DCHEA Library – full of great home education & parenting resources (books & audio), as well as great literary works to share with your family. Check-out time is one month. Descriptions of most items are on the website. Stacey is the DCHEA Librarian and houses the Library in her home. Please contact her before visiting. Her information is found in the DCHEA Newsletter & Directory.

First Year teaching at home OR first year teaching in CA, we highly recommend that you check out the binder titled An Introduction to Home Education published by California’s statewide home education organization CHEA.]

8. Make sure your
HSLDA Membership is up-to-date. Save 17% on your HSLDA membership by using DCHEA’s HSLDA group membership #. This # is found in the DCHEA Newsletter and is also emailed at the beginning of each school year. Go to their website or call 540-338-5600.

9. Attend
Picture Day, even if you don’t plan on buying the pictures. This is when the Student Pictures for the Class Pages of the Yearbook are taken. Your picture is taken for the Faculty Page & for a DCHEA Membership card. Remember to submit pictures to the Yearbook Club (the newsletter will have more details about when and how). Purchase a yearbook to have your school-year recorded. The kids love them!

10. You have access to
SAT Administration in the spring. (Grade levels based upon the need each year).

11. Attend an inspiring send-off for your 5th, 8th, and/or 12th grader who would like to take part in a
Graduation Ceremony. Held each May or June in a local church. Invite friends & family!

12. You have the
prayerful and powerful support of all our DCHEA families and thousands of families in California’s CHEA Support Network that want to maintain Independent & Private Christian Home Education. Including but not limited to: The ability to choose your own curriculum & most importantly the ability to teach your children about our Lord Jesus Christ!

Find fellowship with families of like-mind in DCHEA. Share curriculum ideas and prayers for the health and education of our member families. Share in the joys of the spiritual and academic milestones.
