Anybody have a fever?

Jesus said "I would that you were hot or cold because if you are lukewarm I will spit you out of my mouth." (Rev 3-15) Harsh words, but they are in red and Jesus spoke them. The Lord would rather have you aware of your dislocation from him (be spit out) than be lukewarm, ineffective and in danger. Yes, being lukewarm is a dangerous place for believers. If we are cold at least know we are not with God, if we are lukewarm we think we are fine and in need of nothing (see Rev 3). Lukewarm can quickly turn to cold. The Lord calls us "to be salt and light’ and admonishes that if the "salt loses its flavor what is it good for but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot"(Mt 5:13). Thrown out, Trampled on, and Spit out, Not Good. I encourage you and me to take our spiritual temperature and to test our saltiness. See where we are less than on fire for the Lord. One of the tests for me is, am I hearing the Lord’s correction and conviction regarding sin in my life or am I just lukewarmly blundering through. How is my prayer time? Is God’s Word fresh on my tongue from reading it? "My sheep hear my voice and another they will not follow" (Jn 10:27). "If you love me you will keep my commandments" (Jn14:15-17). "He chastens those he Loves" (Heb 12:3-11 Pv 3:11). "Forsake not the assembling of yourselves together" (Heb 10:28). The coals in the center of the fire are the hottest and the ones on the outside edges are the coolest ( lukewarm?).

You may be asking, gosh Dan, what does this have to do with homeschooling? The greatest lesson to be continually teaching your children is to be aflame with the Love of God. As the ultimate time to glorify the Lord, Christmas, is in our midst let’s fire up and shine for Jesus through December and into the New Year.
