Relax, Rely and Release
Relax, another school year is off and running and with it come all the challenges of providing the best education on the planet for your children. Is this the right curriculum? How can I get my kids to do their work? How do I balance my time effectively? Relax, Relax, Relax, the stress of trying to solve these problems in an instant can be overwhelming. Step back and make sure you are accomplishing the bigger goal of Christian home education making God centered disciples of Jesus. This is infinitely more important then getting through the first five lessons of math and science. Having the proper direction is more important than rate of speed in getting to any destination. Direction first, speed later.
Rely on your home schooling brothers and sisters. The great thing is we are all in this together and someone in the group has had the same challenges and problems you are having. What did the Lord show them? Don’t overlook the absolutely awesome home schooling moms in this group to help with your challenges. They are an unparalleled resource and the Lord put them there to serve. Attend DCHEA functions that allow you to get next to some moms that can help; the field trips are not just for the kids you know. These are excellent times to ask a mom who may know about a certain curriculum etc., etc. Great encouragement and ministry occurs at the monthly Moms Night Out, for example.
Release your children to God, this is obvious but difficult. Lyndi and I have found that so often when we go to Him with a home schooling problem He has the answer. The Lord has made your children with a destiny in Him. He made some strong, obstinate leaders, that once trained He will use for His glory. Some He made quiet, compliant, obedient, and good spellers (lucky you). We are His helpers in equipping them to fulfill the purposes He has for their lives. We have to seek the Lord for what He has for them and prepare them as best we can, but ultimately we must know that God is the master of their lives. Release them to God, do the best you can, and have peace in knowing He loves your children more then you do.
Have a blessed month!
