The Times- they are a changin’…
I don’t know about your family, but ours is not one that particularly enjoys change. Yet in the last few months we have undergone a fair amount of it. In our family we have experienced graduation (and the celebration thereof), had the privilege of traveling, made decisions about college, prepared for college, had the experience of a child beginning a "courtship" phase in life (a prayer-packed time, let me tell you!), bittersweet preparation for homeschooling only ONE student this year, changes in our business, etc etc. We have also begun and are blessed to have the privilege to serve as the leaders of Desert CHEA this coming year. The list can go on and on.
I’m sure all of you have experienced a fair amount of changes in your lives as well. Some are good, some are not so good. A few that I happen to know of in the lives of the families in our group are health related (challenges and overcoming—PTL!), financial, moving from the valley, changing churches, etc.
I guess the one thing that all these changes have in common are that they are time related….they are all SEASONS in our lives. And the things we know for SURE about seasons are that they are never permanent. Every season in our lives is just that…a season… and we can be sure that soon enough, we will enter another season in our lives—boom! Time for change again!
We know God’s Word says:
1 To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven: 2 A time to be born, And a time to die; A time to plant, And a time to pluck what is planted; 3 A time to kill, And a time to heal; A time to break down, And a time to build up; 4 A time to weep, And a time to laugh; A time to mourn, And a time to dance; 5 A time to cast away stones, And a time to gather stones; A time to embrace, And a time to refrain from embracing; 6 A time to gain, And a time to lose; A time to keep, And a time to throw away; 7 A time to tear, And a time to sew; A time to keep silence, And a time to speak; 8 A time to love, And a time to hate; A time of war, And a time of peace. Ecclesiastes 3It seems to me when I look at changes/seasons in our lives, it is a lot about trusting the Lord. It is about seeking His face day to day (sometimes moment to moment—can you relate?
☺ ) It is about walking with him through the changes, and telling Him you will do His will, and asking Him to help you do it. It’s about rejoicing and having a good attitude through the changes. After all, if we didn’t have these seasons in our lives…and life was just status-quo how WOULD we learn to trust Him and have faith? So as we walk through this upcoming "season" of our lives, through the positive changes, and the not so positive changes, let’s keep encouraging one another in our group. I can’t think of any other people I would rather walk through seasons with than the precious families who God has placed us with; a like minded, committed, Godly, loving group of folks…YOU…our brothers and sisters in Desert CHEA. We are looking forward to serving the Lord together with you this year as we homeschool our precious gifts God has given us—our children.
Much love and MANY blessings, Dan and Lyndi Ruzicka, Desert CHEA Support Group Leaders, 2005-06
